Fernanda Cohen
Fernanda grew up in Buenos Aires, where she learned nothing about illustration until she moved to New York City in 2000 to study at the School of Visual Arts. Naturally, she started drawing at the age of 5 or so, copying the popular Argentine comic strip Mafalda, but she wasn't introduced to the concept of interacting with an audience through the power of an image until she learned about the combination between drawing and communication arts.

On Technique
Fernanda sketches mostly in her head as she walks on the streets of Gramercy Park, rounding up ideas tightly to later on throw them on a blank piece of paper. She draws both out of her head and occasionally uses a little mirror to make funny faces at herself. She first uses pencil, then inks it up and fills it in with gouache colors.
