Nicholas Di Genova

Nicholas Di Genova is 24 and lives in Toronto Canada.

He lives in his studio, The Cloud Palace, and makes new friends with his monsters everyday.

Currently his best friend is a giant three-headed suckerfish with arms and legs, but hes seeing a mid-sized cochroach-mech behind the suckerfish's back. He feels that the cockroach-mech is a more adventurous lover, but misses the stability of an honest relationship.

Technique

For a lot of my work, my technique is pretty straightforward, ink and watercolour on paper. I use a lot of source materials in my work, so my studio is totally covered in layers of books...

For the mylar paintings (the stuff with colour), the technique is very similar to that of traditional animators: ink on one side of the mylar, animation paint on the other...

I use a dipping pen for all of my ink work, which somewhat explains the areas of drips; sometimes those damn things just explode and really fuck stuff up...
